Trees of Contemplation by Andrea Renae

Introduction

I’ve been following Andrea for quite a while now, and I love how her photos ease my mind every time I see them. She has a wonderful way of framing her shots in a simple, elegant way, letting the natural world speak for itself and allowing us to escape, if just for a moment, from the distractions of busy daily life. That’s why I asked her to share one of her photos with us.

The Story Behind the Photo

by @drea.renae.photography

The story behind this photo is that I see these bundles of trees on a hillside near my home all the time and had been eyeing them for awhile!

One day, I just happened to pull over and capture them. I was thinking about how beautifully they grew in a scattered yet harmonious pattern, much like my thoughts at the time! Some big, some small, in disarray yet oddly in sync.

It was a gloomy day, just like my mind at that moment. But photography always has a way of reviving me!

Creative Choices

I made some creative choices for this photo. I used the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III lens to achieve the composition I wanted, and I included some faint clouds in the sky.

I noticed in post that it was a bit blurry/soft focus but that seemed to suited the mood. I edited the photo as monochrome because I felt it was more emotional for the scene and what I wanted to convey.

About Andrea Renae

I’m Andrea Renae Marquez, and I’m a nature and landscape photographer based in Montana.

As an amateur photographer, I enjoy experimenting with different styles, including macro and abstract. My focus is on capturing quiet, emotional moments in nature.

I hope to find my creative voice through this process. I love photography because it allows me to immerse myself in a moment and see things differently.

I notice the details and express myself. As a self-proclaimed introvert, this medium has given me the opportunity at times to convey feelings that I have a hard time putting into words.

Equipment Used

The Canon EOS Rebel T6 has been an excellent beginner camera for me. It’s my first real camera, and I appreciate its user-friendly interface for learning the basics of photography, such as manual mode. The image quality is quite good.
